概要: 淡蒼球とは

淡蒼球 globus pallidus は以下の部位に存在する大脳基底核 basal ganglia の一部である (図, ref 2)。

統合失調症と淡蒼球の大きさ

統合失調症 schizophrenia では全般に大脳皮質 cerebral cortex や 海馬 hippocampus が萎縮し、大脳基底核が肥大する。globus pallidus も例外ではなく、肥大する傾向を示す。

> MRI で淡蒼球 27.4%, putamen 15.9%, caudate 9.5% の体積増加を検出 (1R)。
  • N=15, male, right-handed, neuroleptic-medicated patients with age-matched control.
  • Basal ganglia 全体では、14.2% の増加がみられた。
  • とくに caudate の体積増加が、finger tapping, Hebb's Recurring Digits などの運動能力低下と相関。
